Trial Makeup in Navi Mumbai
A trial is where we figure out your exact wedding day look before the wedding day. I do a half-face trial so you can see the base shade, the eye look, the lip colour, and the hairstyle on your own face and decide what you love. No guesswork, no surprises, no anxiety on the morning of your wedding.
What is a Bridal Makeup Trial?
A makeup trial is a test session where I do your wedding day look (or a close version of it) on one half of your face so you can see exactly how the makeup, hairstyle, and overall look will turn out. Think of it as a dress rehearsal for your face.
I do half-face trials because it lets you compare the made-up side with your bare side in real time. You can see the coverage, the colour match, the eye look intensity, and the overall effect right there in the mirror. It’s much more useful than a full-face trial because you can clearly see the difference the makeup makes.
During the trial, I also test how the products sit on your skin over a couple of hours. If you have oily skin, we see if the base stays matte. If you have dry skin, we check that nothing flakes or settles into lines. This real-time testing is something you can’t replicate with photos or video calls.
What Happens During the Trial Session
Here’s exactly what we cover in a trial, step by step:
Consultation first. We start by talking about your wedding. I ask about your outfit, your jewellery, the venue, the time of day, your skin concerns, and what kind of look you want. If you have reference photos, share them. This conversation is important because it helps me understand your vision before I pick up a single brush.
Base shade matching. I test 2 to 3 foundation shades on your jawline to find the exact match. I also decide whether your skin works better with airbrush or HD, and whether matte or dewy suits you better.
Eye look. I do the eye makeup on one eye so you can see the colour, the intensity, and the style. If you want to try a different look, I can do a second option on the same eye after wiping it down. Most brides try 2 options and pick their favourite.
Lip colour. I swatch 2 to 3 lip shades on the back of your hand and we narrow it down. The lip that works with your outfit and the eye look is the one we lock in.
Hairstyle discussion. If you’ve brought your veil, tiara, gajra, or hair accessories, we test the hairstyle with them. If you haven’t brought them, we discuss the style verbally and I show you reference images of what I recommend.
Jewellery and draping check. For Maharashtrian brides, I check the nath and mundavalya placement. For South Indian brides, I test the jasmine setting. For lehenga brides, we figure out the dupatta draping style. Bring your jewellery to the trial if you can.
The whole session takes about 45 minutes to an hour.
Why a Trial is Worth It
I always recommend trials for bridal bookings, and here’s why:
You eliminate anxiety. The number one thing brides tell me after a trial is “I feel so much more relaxed about the wedding now.” When you’ve already seen exactly how you’ll look, the morning of the wedding is calm and enjoyable instead of stressful.
We catch issues early. Maybe the foundation shade I chose first isn’t quite right. Maybe the eye look is too intense for your taste. Maybe the hairstyle doesn’t hold in your hair type. It’s much better to discover these things during a trial than on the wedding morning. Every adjustment is made in advance.
Products get tested on your skin. Some products react differently on different skins. I’ve had brides whose skin oxidises certain foundations (the colour shifts after 2 hours). We catch that during the trial and switch to a product that stays true on your skin.
The wedding morning goes faster. When the trial is done, I already know your exact shade, your eye look, your lip colour, and your hairstyle. On the wedding day, I’m not experimenting. I’m executing a plan we’ve already agreed on. The result is a smoother, faster getting-ready experience.
When to Book Your Trial
I recommend booking your trial 2 to 3 weeks before the wedding day. This gives you enough time to:
Process what you saw and think about any changes. Some brides love everything immediately. Others want to sleep on it and come back with tweaks. Both are fine.
If we decide you need a skincare adjustment (like extra hydration or a dermatologist visit), 2 to 3 weeks gives enough time for minor improvements.
If your engagement is coming up before the wedding, you can do the trial before the engagement and use the engagement as a real-world test of the look.
Don’t book the trial too far in advance (like 2 to 3 months before). Your skin can change with the seasons, your outfit might not be ready yet, and the look we finalise may feel outdated by the wedding day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a bridal makeup trial necessary?
It’s not mandatory, but I strongly recommend it. A trial lets us lock in your exact shade, eye look, lip colour, and hairstyle before the wedding. It eliminates guesswork and anxiety on the wedding morning. Brides who do trials are noticeably more relaxed on the day because they already know exactly how they’ll look. It also lets me test products on your skin so there are no surprises.
How much does a bridal makeup trial cost?
The trial is ₹2,500 per session. This covers the half-face trial, base shade matching, eye and lip colour testing, and hairstyle discussion. The trial fee is separate from the bridal booking. I travel to your home in Navi Mumbai for the session.
How long does a makeup trial take?
About 45 minutes to an hour. This includes the initial consultation (discussing your outfit, venue, and preferences), the half-face makeup application, shade matching, and hairstyle discussion. If you want to try multiple eye looks or compare airbrush vs HD, it might take a bit longer.
When should I book my makeup trial?
2 to 3 weeks before the wedding. This gives you time to process the look, request any tweaks, and make minor skincare adjustments if needed. Don’t book too far in advance (2 to 3 months) because your skin changes and your outfit might not be ready. If your engagement is before the wedding, the trial before the engagement is ideal.
What should I bring to the makeup trial?
Your wedding outfit (or a photo of it), your jewellery (especially nath, mundavalya, tikli, or maang tikka), your veil or tiara if you have one, and any reference photos of looks you like. If you can’t bring the actual outfit, photos of the fabric, colour, and embroidery are very helpful. The more I see, the better I can plan the look.
Can the groom come to the trial?
That’s completely up to you as a couple. Some brides want the groom to see the trial look so there are no surprises. Others want to keep the bridal look as a surprise for the wedding day. If the groom wants his own grooming trial, we can do that during the same session. More about groom grooming here.
