Every family function has a different tone, and the makeup should match:
Griha pravesh (housewarming): A traditional and auspicious occasion. Most women wear a saree, and the makeup should be polished and traditional. Warm-toned eyes, a clean base, a bindi, and a classic lip. Elegant and appropriate for a prayer-led ceremony.
Anniversary celebrations: Whether it’s your own anniversary or you’re attending a family member’s, the look is refined and festive. For a formal dinner setting, I go slightly more glamorous. For a daytime puja-style celebration, the look stays soft and traditional.
Naming ceremony (barsa or namkaran): The new mother is the centre of attention. I keep the look fresh, glowing, and comfortable. Light base, soft eyes, and a natural lip. Comfort is important because she’ll be holding the baby throughout the event.
Mundan ceremony: A significant family occasion. The mother and other female family members usually wear traditional outfits. The makeup is polished and simple, suited to a daytime ceremony at home or at a temple.
Thread ceremony (upanayanam/janeu): A religious family function. The makeup is understated and appropriate. Clean base, minimal eye makeup, and a classic lip. The focus is on looking well-dressed for a sacred occasion.
Milestone birthdays and retirement functions: More celebratory, so the look can be a bit more elevated. A flawless base, warm shimmer on the eyes, and a lip that complements the outfit. For evening events, the look can be closer to party makeup intensity.
Multiple Family Members, One Session
Family functions often mean multiple women in the family want to get ready together. I handle that. The host (or the person at the centre of the celebration) gets the primary look, and family members can add their looks alongside.
I stagger the timing so everyone is ready before the event or guests arrive. For example, if the griha pravesh puja is at 11 AM and three people need makeup, I start at 7:30 AM and finish everyone by 10:30 with buffer time. I share a detailed timing plan before the event.

Yes. Saree draping is included with every booking. I bring all draping essentials (safety pins, brooches, fabric tape) and drape any style: nivi, nauvari, Bengali, Gujarati, or South Indian. The draping is part of the complete look.

Absolutely. Family function makeup is a standalone service. You don’t need to be a bride or connected to a wedding. Anyone hosting or attending a family event can book a professional look.
How early should I book?
A week in advance is usually enough for family functions. For peak season months (October to February) or weekend dates, booking 2 to 3 weeks ahead is safer. Message me with your date and I’ll confirm availability.
