Why Your Reception Look Should Be Different
One of the most common mistakes I see is brides keeping the same look for both the ceremony and the reception. I get it, it feels simpler. But the two events are completely different. Your morning pheras or afternoon ceremony are usually in natural or mixed lighting. Your reception is almost always indoors with warm lights, DJ lighting, and constant flash photography from guests.
What looks soft and beautiful in daylight can look washed out under reception lighting. And a heavy, dramatic morning look can look overdone by evening if it’s been sitting on your skin for 8 hours. That’s why I always recommend a fresh look for the reception, or at minimum, a proper touch-up with adjusted colours.
For reception looks, I usually go a little more defined on the eyes and a shade deeper on the lips compared to the ceremony look. I also adjust the base to account for the fact that warm indoor lighting tends to wash out cool tones. The contour, highlight, and blush placement all shift based on how the venue lights up at night. I’ve done receptions at banquet halls in Vashi, resorts in Kharghar, farmhouses near Panvel, and hotel ballrooms in Belapur, and each one lights up differently.
Same-Day Wedding + Reception: How It Works
Most of my brides have their wedding ceremony and reception on the same day. Here’s how I handle it:
I do the full bridal look in the morning or early afternoon for the ceremony. That’s a complete fresh application with HD makeup, hairstyling, and draping. Then, before the reception, I come back and do a hairstyle change, outfit change draping, and a touch-up on the makeup. I adjust the eye look and lip colour to suit the evening outfit and lighting. This back-to-back service is ₹8,500.
If your reception is on a completely separate day, it’s a fresh full look at ₹14,000, just like the wedding day. Same inclusions, same setup.
One thing I always tell brides: if your ceremony and reception are on the same day with only a 2 to 3 hour gap, your morning makeup will still be holding up perfectly by evening. In that case, a touch-up with colour adjustments is more than enough. You don’t need a full redo.

Absolutely. Reception evenings are long, with lots of greeting, eating, and dancing. I use long-wear, transfer-proof products and a professional setting spray. The makeup stays put through hugs, tears, and hours on the dance floor. If you have oily skin, I use mattifying products specifically to prevent any breakthrough shine under warm venue lights.
